Profile: Brian Conrad

Madagascar Research Assistant

Brian Conrad is an undergraduate student studying Biology at Saint Mary's University, Halifax, NS. Ever since he was young, he has had a strong passion for biology and furthering his scientific understanding. He has always dreamed about being able to go abroad and assist communities in need and to be able to assist in biodiversity and conservation efforts. Here is how he describes his project.

"I have been accepted to volunteer abroad to assist with terrestrial and aquatic research in Madagascar for 6 weeks in the Summer of 2021. While present, I will be able to help the local communities, as well as to conduct research on the forest species and the forest itself. Furthermore, I will be able to assist in conducting research on Madagascar's coral reef structures, collecting data and analysis through working with 3D coral reef modelling, and help in creating a sea turtle identification database."
